Mars in Capricorn
On January 24, 2022, Mars moved into the sign of Capricorn where he will remain until March 6.
Capricorn is Mars’ sign of exaltation, which makes this a particularly strong placement. When a planet is in its sign of exaltation, it’s treated as an honored guest whose best qualities are celebrated.
As a naturally malefic planet, Mars tends towards extremes that can be harsh and difficult to deal with. It is the planet that spurs us into action, ignites our drive to win and assert ourselves; at its very best it inspires heroism.
However, by its nature, Mars runs hot and dry. It is active, yes, but also impulsive and choleric. Mars can be merciless and aggressive, sometimes even violent.
But Saturn-ruled Capricorn cools down Mars’ hyperdrive flames and restrains his impatient need have everything this instant rather than allowing things to mature and unfold, which are among Saturn’s specialties.
Mars in Capricorn is the focused drive and endurance of the marathon runner who has the capacity to run through the pain in order to reach the finish line.
Whereas an unrestrained Mars may kick ass on the battlefield one minute and rape, pillage and destroy the next, Mars in Capricorn is the decorated general: he still acts and strives to win, but he also understands the importance of restraint when restraint is called for as well as long-term strategy.
What Mars in Capricorn means for you
To understand where you can harness the focused drive, energy and discipline of Mars in Capricorn, take a look at the house in your natal chart that has Capricorn on the cusp.
For example, if you have Capricorn on the cusp of the 4th house, this would be a great time to start and complete long-term projects in the home, if you have it on the 2nd, you could use this drive to get your finances in order, and so on.
Another interesting detail is that Mars will be conjoining Venus in Capricorn later in February and will continue to “dance” closely by her side until the end of March. This is an interesting combination and one that lends itself well to working constructively and energetically on relationships, romantic or otherwise.
I like what the astrologer Acyuta-bhava has to say about this and Mars in Capricorn in general, so feel free to check out his video below if you’d like to know more.
I’ll also soon be posting an electional chart with some suggestions for how to use this energy, both magically and materially, so stay tuned.
