On June 10, 2021 we will have an annual solar eclipse at about 19 degrees of Gemini. As I mentioned in my podcast, a solar eclipse occurs when the moon is within 5 degrees of one of the lunar nodes during a new moon.
In lunar cycles, a new moon is when seeds are planted in a particular part of our life that then grows and develops until culmination at the full moon around two weeks later.
In many ways, a solar eclipse is like a supercharged new moon whose meaning is more dramatic and impactful than a new moon during a regular lunar cycle. The influence of the eclipse, as well as its ultimate culmination, lasts until we have a full moon in the same sign, which takes about six months.
In this case, the full moon in Gemini will take place on December 19, which is when the full effect of June 10’s solar eclipse will peak, which was growing in developing over the months.
The Gemini Solar Eclipse on June 10 is on the North Node
What this means is that the seeds being planted by this eclipse speak to our desires, what we are particularly hungry for and where we are likely to see outward and/or intentional and conscious growth.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the road won’t be bumpy. Eclipses can bring drama, surprises and may awaken impulses inside us that will take a while to digest or come to terms with. Since a solar eclipse is a new moon, it may also take a while before the seeds germinate and we begin to see changes and results.
Eclipses tend to be hard on the body, and the Gemini butterfly/scattered energy this one brings may have you rather hyped-up (think five cups of coffee) and ungrounded.
Since this eclipse is taking place on the “head of the dragon” (North Node), typical health issues that pop up may be issues with your eyes, headaches, sore throats, ear aches and problems with your sinuses.
Therefore, during the solar eclipse on June 10, try not to overdo things. Rest, stay hydrated and take time for self-care when possible. For example, bathing with salt is a great way to temper the high-flying-but-exhausting energy you may be feeling.
Last but not least, Gemini is an air sign, which means in general that the topics this eclipse brings up will tend to be communicative and mental in nature.
Gemini Solar Eclipse through the Houses
The nodes have been in Gemini (North Node) and Sagittarius (South Node) since May 2020, so many of the topics this solar eclipse brings up are likely to to be things you’ve been dealing with for a while now.
Since the sun will be conjunct retrograde Mercury during this eclipse, you may also be called to rethink and reexamine the topics of the particular house impacted in your chart.
As always, certain factors will determine how strongly you feel this particular eclipse, for example, if it aspects planets in your natal chart, falls on an important angle, etc. However, the following should still give you a good idea about what seeds the Gemini solar eclipse/new moon may be planting in your life, as well as the impact it will have on your life over the next six months.
Aries Rising
If you have Aries rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 3rd house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your relationship with siblings, your neighborhood and surroundings as well as short distance travel. Communication, particularly anything online, might also experience a boost or bring in new changes.
Taurus Rising
If you have Taurus rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 2nd house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine anything to do with your finances or possessions. For example, this would be a great time to change your financial planning strategy or possibly make new investments or purchases you’ve been considering for a while.
Gemini Rising
If you have Gemini rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 1st house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine yourself, particularly your physical body, vitality and overall life direction. This would be a great time to try on many different hats, something double-bodied Gemini loves to do, to get a better sense of who you are and what you want in life. When it comes to health and vitality, the solar eclipse also invites you to explore changes, for example, in your diet or exercise regime. As I mentioned above, eclipses can be hard on the body, and you will be likely to feel this even more since it’s falling in your first house, so make sure to take extra special care of yourself on June 10 as well as a couple of days after.
Cancer Rising
If you have Cancer rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 12th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your fears or ways you may undermine yourself. This is potentially a more difficult place to experience this eclipse, because it may bring up old feelings from the past that you thought you had moved on from. However, painful though it may be, this will give you the chance to reexamine and address what you may have been holding onto that no longer serves you, as well as shed productive light on your fears and anxieties.
Leo Rising
If you have Leo rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 11th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine the role you play in groups, circles of friends and alliances. The 11th house is called the “house of good fortune,” and the eclipse here might bring in new support, allies and fans for your endeavors – lucky you!
Virgo Rising
If you have Virgo rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 10th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your career, social standing and reputation in the world. For example, you may feel the urge to expand your business, go in a different direction professionally or simply be swamped with many projects that have to all be juggled at once – Gemini is the ultimate multitasker, after all!
Libra Rising
If you have Libra rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 9th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your beliefs. The next six months may be a time that brings you a new spiritual teacher, for example. You may also feel the urge to go back to school or start studying something you’ve always wanted to learn – like astrology. Last but not least, this eclipse may also bring the urge and/or opportunity for foreign travel. Either way, the name of the game for you is the call to expand your mind and horizons.
Scorpio Rising
If you have Scorpio rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 8th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your spouses income as well as any debts you have, either financial or karmic. The 8th house is one of the darker, more difficult houses and can also stand for taboos or deep-rooted fears, particularly around death, and this eclipse brings the opportunity to better see and address any of these kinds of topics in a constructive way. If possible, this would a great time for you to do some kind of intense therapeutic work, for example.
Sagittarius Rising
If you have Sagittarius rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 7th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine relationships, particularly those that are close, one-to-one relationships, such as with a spouse or business partner. You may feel the urge to make changes in these relationships or better communicate (again, it’s Gemini!) the new path you would like to take together – so get talking!
Capricorn Rising
If you have Capricorn rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 6th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine work and health matters. While the 10th house stands for career, the sixth house is really more about the daily grind, i.e. the work we do that we don’t necessarily enjoy. The solar eclipse here could help you think of how you might build a better work-life balance, for example. Since the sixth house is also the house of illness, the potential seeds planted here may also bring the urge to improve your health, for example, by getting you to break unhealthy habits, start exercising more, etc.
Aquarius Rising
If you have Aquarius rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 5th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine creative projects and ways to have fun. Since this particular eclipse is in Mercury-ruled Gemini, this would be a great time to finally get started on that novel or other writing project. For inspiration, check out 1000 word of summer. Another thing this house stands for is children and procreation, so it’s a good time to try to get pregnant – so be extra careful around the eclipse if this is something you don’t want!
Pisces Rising
If you have Pisces rising, the Gemini solar eclipse will fall in your 4th house. This means you may experience a greater focus, growth and an urge to rethink and reexamine your home life. You may find yourself moving or feel the urge to make changes at your home or living situation over the next six months. The 4th house also stands for ancestors, which means this would be a great time to start a genealogy project, for example.
Happy Gemini solar eclipse everyone! Please feel free to share how you experience this eclipse in the comments below.
