The Aries Ingress and Spring Equinox
Happy Spring everyone!

From an astrological point of view, the Spring Equinox and Sun’s ingress into Aries are considered the true “new year,” when the new season that represents life kicks off (this holds true for the Southern Hemisphere as well, since the symbolism here is what counts).
A mutable water sign, Pisces energy is passive and adaptable. Like all mutable signs (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius) in the zodiac, Pisces comes at the crossroads of a season, when the weather enters a kind of limbo. In the Northern hemisphere, March is still winter, yes, but in many places the snow becomes slushy, the ice breaks up, the birds sing and start gathering sticks to build nests for what is to come.
Spring!
The cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) herald in the new seasons, which means they bring action and forward motion. With Mars-ruled Aries, this is the most extreme. This is the energy that thrusts flowers through ground sometimes still blanketed in frost, that tells trees to unfurl their tender green leaves that they may shield newly hatched baby birds, life emerging from winter, a season which in many ways feels closer to death.
With Venus soon moving into Aries and Mercury a few weeks after, the tone is going to shift towards being more action-oriented and full of energy, as well as impatience and short-tempers at times, so watch out for that.
Here’s an interesting video about this by the astrologer Acyuta-bhava Das.
Traditionally, the Aries Ingress (i.e. the exact moment that the sun enters Aries, which varies from place to place) has been considered a very important chart to map the fate and fortunes of a certain location for the year ahead. One of my favorite astrologers Nina Gryphon talks about this a bit in her March 2021 forecast. I believe she plans to do a video highlighting different Aries Ingress charts for different regions, so follow her channel if you’d like to find out more about that.
Have a great first Spring weekend, everyone! I’ll be back next week with a tarot reading about what spring might bring to us.
